DIY free crochet necklace pattern
I have a passion for not wasting anything! this diy, a free crochet necklace pattern comes out of that passion. I have a considerably amount of yarn, beads, sequins, stones, chains, ribbons… well you get the idea. Putting a couple of outfits together a few weekends ago, I realized I really don’t have any colourful and pretty jewelry to wear with some more plain clothes.
I like to mix colourful accessories with plain colour clothes, they stand up better that way. The yellow stone has been in a box at the back of a draw for a long time.
The cotton is from Scheepjes, I used a few yards in five different colours of Catona, an E crochet hook (3.5 mm), the center piece stone, glass blue beads, a tiny seed bead and some ribbon to tie the necklace.
Please note the pattern is written in US terms.
ch = chain
sc = single crochet
hdc = half double crochet
bpdc = back post double crochet
sl st = slip stitch
bobble st = err… bobble stitch!
With brown ch 38
Row 1: make 1 hdc on the 4th ch from the hook, make 1 hdc in each ch. (36 sts)
Change to red
Row 2: ch1 and make 1sc in each st. (36 sts)
Change to orange
Row 3: ch2, *skip 2 st and make 5dc in the next st, skip 2 st and make 1sc on the next st, repeat from * 4 more times, skip 2 st, and make 5dc on the next st, skip 2st and make 1hdc on the last st. Cut the yarn and fasten off.
Now we are going to join with the yellow colour. Holding the piece on the right side find the second sc on the previous row, join your new yarn there.
Row 4:* make 5dc in the next st, skip 2 st and make 1sc on the next st, skip 2 st, repeat from * twice more, make 1 sl st in the next st. Cut the yarn and fasten off.
Again holding the piece on the right side and with blue:
Row 5: join the yarn at the corner of the piece, at the orange row and make 1 sl st on each st until you reach the yellow row, *make 1bphdc in each of the 5dc sts of the first group, make 5dc bobble st in the next st, repeat from * once again and make 1bphdc in each of the next 5dc sts, make 1 sl st all around the second the orange row again till you reach the last st. Cut the yarn and fasten off.
Sew the beads and ribbons to the crocheted piece.
To attached the yellow stone, I simply went through the stone, then the tiny seed bead and back through the stone.
Have a lovely day!
