DIY FREE crochet pattern slippers, free pattern by Luz Patterns

I started designing and writing crochet patterns a long time ago. At first I did it as a way to give my creativity an outlet. Whilst changing nappies I was dreaming of dolls, crochet baby booties, home slippers, socks, blankets, well everything to do with beautiful crochet.

I made this lovely pair of home slippers as one of my first designs. I have decided to offer this pattern for free here on my website now, I hope you enjoy it!

Ladies home slippers

Please note the pattern is written in standard american terms.

Size:

The pattern is written for a US 8.5, UK 6, Europe 39.

Skill level:

Easy/Beginner

Abbreviations:

ch= chain

sc = single crochet

dc = double crochet

sc2tog = decrease by making 2 single crochet together

sl st = slip stitch

Materials and notions:

Worsted weight yarn, I used StyleCraft Life Aran, you will also need a few yards of dk yarn for the edge and hearts.

Crochet hook sizes H (5 mm) for the slippers and size F (4 mm) for the edge and the hearts.

If you would like to decorate the little hearts, then you will also need a few sequins as well as sewing needle and thread.

Pattern note:

The slippers are worked in a continuous round, at the end of each round place a marker and continue working.

Slippers:

Make the magic loop. If you do not know how to simply ch2 and make the first round on the second ch from the hook.

Round 1: 6sc in the loop
Round 2: 2sc in each st, (12 sts)
Round 3: 1sc in first st, 2sc in the next (18 sts)

Size note: If you want to make the slippers smaller do the following round but do not add all the stitches. For example add up to 25 stitches, do not add any more on round 5 either. If you would like the slipper bigger add a few more stitches on round 5.

Round 4: repeat round 3 (27 sts)

Round 5: 1sc in first st, 2sc in the next , repeat from * twice more, 1sc in the rest of the sts (30 sts)

Rounds 6 – 14: 1sc in each st (30 sts)

Size note: We are now going to work on the sole of the slipper, if you have added or subtracted stitches, make the next rows proportional to the amount of stitches you have right now.

Row 15: 1sc in each of the first 20 sts ch1 turn 1sc in each st, ch1 turn (we are working on the sole now so you will be forwards and backwards not working in a round anymore)

Rounds 16 – 32: 1sc in each st, ch1 turn

Round 33: 2sc in the first st, 1sc in each of the next 18sts, 2sc in the last st, ch1 turn (22 sts)

Round 34: 1sc in each st, ch1 turn (22 sts)

Round 35: 2sc in the first st, 1sc in each of the next 21 sts, 2sc in the last st, (24 sts) Round 36: 2sc in the first st, 1sc in each of the next 22 sts, 2sc in the last st, (26 sts) Round 37: 1sc in each of the next 3 sts, decrease 2sc together 10 times, 1sc in each of the next 3 sts. (16 sts)

Round 38: 1sc in each of the next 2 sts, sc2tog 6 times, 1sc in each of the next 2 sts. (10 sts)

Round 39 : sc2tog all around (5 sts)

Fasten off leaving a long tail to sew the back of the slipper together. (please refer to the pictures)

Next pictures show the finished shoe now you need to sew the back together

With lilac and your size F hook, join the yarn at the back. Make 1sc all around the edge. Join with a sl st to the beginning, make a loop by making a ch8, and join the chain back to the previous st, (refer to picture)

Now go around the ch8 with sc all around, sl st to the beginning and fasten off.

To make the straps with lilac ch6,

Round 1: 1dc on the 4th ch from the hook, 1dc in each of the remaining 2 chains, ch3 turn

Round 2: 1dc in each of the next 2 sts, (3 sts)

Repeat round 2 till you have the desired length. I have made it 15 rounds in length.

Heart applique:

Note: The heart applique is the same for both shoes.

If you would like the heart on the left shoes to point to the left, and the right to the right simply make the first 3sts on the right shoe looser than the last three stitches.

Do the exact opposite for the left shoe, in this way the hearts would be mirroring each other.

With purple ch4 and join.

Round 1: ch3 (counts as a dc) 2dc, 3sc, 2ch, 3sc, 3dcs ch2 and sl st into the centre of the ring.
